CPC-H CPC-H Certification

Marion Wilson

New Member
I have had my CPC for 7 years, which I've always been a pathology coder. I am interested in obtaining my CPC-H in order to get an opportunity to work in the hospital. Does anyone have any advice and/or suggestions?

Think of the CPC-H as part CPC again plus a little more. Having been a coder for 7 yrs might work against you in some ways. Know that these exams are based on CMS guidelines not what Medicare or BCBS wants. Also, it is a test. Some established coders don't test as well. You need to get into test mode.

I would consider a practice exam and see how you do. If you do well, 80-85% then you are 75% done right there. If you do less pick up the Blitz and get to know the manuals again. The Blitz also helps you with testing tools. The CPC-H program will give you those additional points you need.
